Photographer's Note

On the right side of the 4 enormous 10 story high statues of Pharaoh Ramesses II, are these 5 hawks. There are only 2 on the left side as the head and trunk of the 2nd statue has collapsed to the ground centuries ago in an earthquake. The other 3 hawks were destroyed as a result. You can just see the toes of the 4th giant statue at top left. The statues were built to show the might and power of Ancient Egypt and to intimidate potential invaders from the south. They were relocated to this location in 1968 to avoid flooding by the new Aswan High Dam.

Here's a wider angled, front on view of the whole complex to assist context. I've loaded a couple of similar shots previously.
