Photographer's Note

The reconstructed ruins of Abu Simbel depicting Ramesses II were built between 1264 - 1244 BC to commemorate victory over the Hittites at the battle of Kadesh in present day Syria. They were moved in 1968 to prevent being submerged by the Aswan High Dam.

Here's a shot taken in 1923 at the original location so they have done a good job replicating it here.,_image_9930.jpg

The 2nd statue from the left apparently collapsed during an earthquake not long after it was completed. You can see the ear and head in front of the damaged statue.
