Photographer's Note
When I tried to take a photo earlier of the square in front of Ramses Station, from the rooftop terrace, the hotel security guard rushed over and told me no photos. Apparently the train station is a possible target for terrorist attacks. But so silly when photos of the station are all over internet and google earth. Anyway I waited until he had gone, ordered a drink & took this sneaky shot of the mosque when he wasnt looking. Egyptians were using their cellphones for selfie photos with the square and mosque as a backdrop in front of the guard. Go figure.
If you're wondering why I cropped the top of the minaret, have a look at the workshop.

Hi Chris
What a beauty of view and imposing mosque too. I like the blue hour over the city and its blue reflections over the roofs. A magic moment to shot. Very well done!
Congratulations

Hello Chris
It is difficult in these times when terrorism is mastered, feel free to take pictures.
However you achieve excellent quality especially in the auxiliary photo from the workshop.
Very good photo work.

Bonjour, cher Chris,
Décidément, cette position est enviable pour voir la ville dans son ensemble (ou presque).
Félicitations pour cette composition effectuée à l'heure bleue.
Amitiés.

yes, sometimes we are prohibited to take images in some places but everybody can get images of any place, even with miniature cameras. nice view of the base of the mosque and the streets around, I guess I prefer the vertical view, amazing the tall minarete.

Night scenery over Cairo, is such an inctrdible wide urban area so one photo has not enough space to iclude the whole - but what we see is imposing night scene.
The always prevailing dust in the air did not disturb from showing a very clear photo, from the mosque in the FG and as far as the eyes can see at the horizon.
My best regards,
Ike

Hello Chris,
Unfortunately in the world we live in today security issues are the top of agenda. I quite agree though that some decisions made by the authorities do not bear much scrutiny. Well exposed blue hour composition with superb depth from front to back. Agreeable warm/cool tonal contrasts.

Bonjour Chris,
L'étendue de la ville donne de la profondeur à la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de la Mosquée El Fath. La lumière de l'heure bleue fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne journée.

Hi Chris
Beautiful dusk image, lovely colours and city lights. As for the cropped minaret... looking at the WS shot... yeah it couldn't possibly fit in a landscape shot. :-)
Best wishes

Hi Chris,
Rules of security guards so often have nothing to do with security...
Beautiful blue hour shot with good mix of different colours. I guess there was no support for the camera available as this is not perfectly sharp.

Hi Chris,
indeed some guards are so annoying with the "no photography allowed" -it happens everywhere. I wonder if they are really told that photography is not allowed or are they so zealous and just want to show their power. On top of that as you said if someone want -he can use freely the phone anyway. This annoys me so much!
Fantastic blue hour picture with splendid mosque in the centre of attention. Indeed the height of the minaret didn't make it easy to compose. I suppose even with these two photos you could consider to stitch them into one picture... I always forget about this option -usually Didi was reminding me about it but he is not on TE anymore :(
Fantastic architecture -so little known, great POV, very well used.
Excellent work,
M
