Photographer's Note

Serving as an United Nations Peace Keeper in the war torn Ivory Coast gave me an unique opportunity to visit the magnificent Basilica of Our Lady of Peace located at its administrative capital Yamoussoukro. Also known as Basilique de Notre Dame de la Paix de Yamoussoukro, is the largest and tallest place of worship in Africa. The basilica was constructed between 1985 and 1989 for a cost of USD $300 million and intentionally modeled after the Basilica of Saint Peter in Rome. The Guinness Book of Records lists it as the largest church in the world, having surpassed the previous recordholder, St. Peter's Basilica, upon completion. It has a total surface of 30,000 mē.

After taking 3 snaps (without tripod) and joining with Panaroma Maker (supplied with my Nikon)I did some exposure correction with Picassa. The sky above the besellica hardly remains clear though it gave a 'gathering storm' look.

My first post. Comments welcome.
