Photographer's Note

I am just coming back from one of the most unexplored regions of the world. The very heart of Africa. The Kasaï province in the center of DR Congo.
This picture is the first of a series that I will post to share daily life of people there... struggling to (sur)vive in difficult conditions. Nature is very generous but life conditions are terrible.
Women and children carrying water or food and walking for hours along roads and trails is the most usual scene you will meet.
This is one of the best roads of the province with its colonial bridge still passing over the Bushimaye river.
