Ribeira da Barca is a village located on the northwest coast of the island of Santiago in Cape Verde. Landmarks where at the time of the 1947 famine, people were concentrated there to be able to take a boat to other Africa points
as Sao Tome and Principe and Dakar.
The population living from fishing and sand-removal for the building industry, in order to support their families, even though that is harmful to nature and the environment.
The island of Santiago, is the largest and most African of all the islands of the archipelago, and the cradle of Cape Verde-citizenship offering a rich cultural, culinary and unique landscape, with an island where the contrasts are sharper.
