Photographer's Note

In my work with the Air Force, we had to spend a couple of days in Cabo Verde (aka Cape Verde) while the entire aircrew recovered from a bout of stomach illness. It was a chance to see this little-known part of the world. Most of what I saw of Cabo Verde made me think of what it might be like to land on Mars. Pockmarked plains and volcanic-looking mountains, rare scrubby brush, and big open skies.
