Photographer's Note
April 17, 2006.
Contrary to the other day, this time it is well of a plane at an altitude of 1500 m that I took this photograph.
We leave the island of Sal to go to the island of Fogo. After a flight of 40 minutes, small stopover with Praia to change plane. In fact we go up on the same aircraft.
After the takeoff of Praia, the capital of the Capo Verde, we fly over the buttresses of the mountains of the center of the island of Santiago.
The island of Santiago is the largest of the archipelago. It has a surface of 991 km2. It is also the most populated with 237' 000 people, that is about half of the population of the Capo Verde.
On this island, the ground is completely burned by the sun, the ground is red. But of the brooks small canyons dug, at the bottom of which, water runs, and a vegetation gives us a pretty contrast of color with the burned ground.
I was looking this for a long time.

Bonsoir Jacques,
Bravo et bon WE

Salut Jacques,

Bonsoir Jacques
This is pure Cape Verde! It's amazing how you could get this quality from a regular flight in those small airplanes.
Your note is very informative, but unfortunatelly not always the water runs at the bottom of these canyons, especially on drier islands.

Bonjour Jacques,

Bonne journee,
Jean-yves

Olá Jaques, your photos from Cape Verde impresse me very much. The naked dry landscape, the colors...this is a fantastic view from above. I really love the widing canyon across the diagonal of the composition, with the green oasis downthere and the white houses up on the red ground. The graphic result attract me very much. Very Good!

Hi Jaques!
I have not been on Praia But I think this geat Photo represents the landscapes of Cape Verde verry well.I`ve not been to many countries with deserts, and here we can see perfect that people live close to the rare parts where water is.Excellent shot, taken from a plane and you were lucky like me to have such a clean window. Thanks for your good note and a new favourite image.
Regards,Leo

A picture that tells a lot about Cabo Verde...
Looks like a pocket-size Santo Antao...
Well done !
