Photographer's Note

In my previous post of the series Cape Verde Fishermen, you have seen a small trawler offshore in São Pedro beach. Under difficult conditions, young men riding surfboards fetched big fish from the boat to the shore.
As you see here, pairs of young men carry the big fish across the beach (workshop #2), to a transportation van parked at the edge of beach and village.
In the workshop #1 you see a different POV, more toward the village and with a fish already on top of the van.
-----
This type of vans are very much used in Cape Verde, both for people (inside) and cargo (on top). For many locations it's the only means of public transportation. As most are of the make Toyota Hiace, the Cape-Verdeans call iace to all those type of vans of all makes (the letter "h" has no value, both in Portuguese and Creole).
The pick-ups, with open rear side, are also usual (see Ryan Thayne (euryan) photo in Brava Island).
