Paradise?, a photo from Sao Vicente, Barlavento

Photographer's Note

Inarco Architects promise a paradise soon: "O paraíso ao seu alcance!". But I'm afraid the San Pedro Village Beach Resort may destroy the paradisiac peacefulness of the actual fisher's village of São Pedro, in São Vicente Island (background of the photo).
The old, small São Pedro Airport (workshop), nearby, is already being reconstructed to allow landings of intercontinental aircrafts.
By now the resort is just a huge billboard, but I'm not sure the authorities can (or wish to) avoid a mass tourism in Cape Verde in the style seen in many parts of the world.
San Pedro is wrong spelling.
PP: some saturation; maybe too much.

Olà Francisco,
I was at Sao Pedro village ... :) I feel as if I was doing the travel another time thanks to your shots.
Not a fan of the big billboard though, hope you will post a view of the village of fishermen. Good informative note ! Wanted to add that it is sad to know about this project even if it will represent some development for the island. As for the airport, that will be great thing to be able to come directly to Sao Vicente without any transit to Sal ...

Hi Fransico,
You know that Jimmy Buffet song, "Call a place paradise, kiss it good-bye." However, as with Cabo, I find it hard to begrudge people a good living even though I preferred the place when it was all wild, open spce.

As to the photo, the saturation looks fine to me. The angle of the bay makes the sea look titlted to me, but since it's your photo; I'm sure the sea is dead level,

Sem dúvida nenhuma que paraíso é como ela está agora. O San Pedro Village vai arruinar isto!!!

La foto es realmente buena . Me recuerda un pequeño paraiso de playa y costa en el sur de Murcia : Aguilas , su isla del fraile y ese ambiente intocable por las manos de la destruccion urbana . De eso ya hace 20 años , ahora tristemente el lugar cambio su morfologia casi literalmente . Espero que Cabo verde reciba un tipo de turismo mas sensibilizado y en armonia con la belleza de ese pais . Yo prefiero esa playa desierta antes que estar tumbado matandome a caipirinhas y viendo como los autoctonos reclutados por el gran turismo me ofrecen folklore forzado

Sobre la foto . Magnifica luz y detalles , tanto en esta como en las otras ultimas que he visto en tus "latest ones "

Penso que tens razão... o resort que construirão em São Pedro destruirá o local paradísiaco...
(vejam-se os exemplos em Portugal das construções no Algarve e os resorts que querem fazer na costa alentejana...)

Por o nome desse projecto ancho que este pode ser um dos investimentos de Abel Matutes, um magnate hostelero de Mallorca que o começou a suas actividades na Capo Verde.
