The Mercado Municipal (Municipal Market) is a colonial building in the centre of Mindelo city, São Vicente Island. It is well supplied with farm produce, mainly from neighbouring Santo Antão Island, but also from other islands, such as Fogo or Santiago, a few from São Vicente, as well as produce from abroad. It has nothing to do with the typical chaotic African open-air food markets, but it is also less colourful. [There are also open-air markets in Cape Verde; wait for other photos.]

O Mercado Municipal é um edifício do tempo colonial no centro da cidade do Mindelo, ilha de São Vicente. Está normalmente bem fornecido de produtos agrícolas, principalmente da vizinha ilha de Santo Antão, mas também de outras ilhas, tais como Fogo ou Santiago, e um pouco de São Vicente, assim como também produtos do estrangeiro.
