This is the building of the post office and Cape Verde Telecom (formerly and still known as the Telégrafo) in Mindelo, São Vicente Island.
It is in the same square (the Praça Nova) of the doomed Cine-Teatro Éden Park. So, while it stands, let me show you this colonial building, before some mad mind thinks about to replace it by another hotel.

Este é o edifício dos correios e da Cabo Verde Telecom (ainda é conhecido como o Telégrafo), no Mindelo, ilha de São Vicente.
É na mesma Praça Nova do condenado Cine-Teatro Éden Park. Assim, enquanto existe, deixem-me mostrar-lhe este edifício colonial, antes que alguma mente louca pense em substituí-lo por mais um hotel.

Ola Francisco,
A very nicely framed view of this square and fine post office building. I'm struck by how well maintained the building is and how neat and tidy everywhere looks by comparison with what I've been used to in Kingston -- the capital of another ex-colonial island. Good luck with the preservation effort.

Sem duvida penso devem ter um espaço para construir um novo hotel perto da cidade , e uma pena destruir um edifício deste e muito bom estado , boas cores, bom ponto de visão ,parabéns!!

Hello Francisco this kind of buildings should be considered as national treasures which occupy in the collective minds of the people. Demolishing is the easiest thing. In this respect, I share your concerns in the note. Best regards, Tolga

Olá Francisco,
parece uma bonita e agradável praça essa, com belas contruções ao redor, seria insanidade dos políticos permitirem a demolição desses prédios, mas sabemos bem como funciona o lobby nessas horas e a ganância da classe. Bela foto.

A summer picture with high temperatures a image where I alone makes a dream in our cold winter weather.
A lovely square for take a break on one of the nice benches.
Here you create a lot depth and nice perspective.

The building is a symbol of the changes in communication means in the years passed..!
Telegrams and mail, soon they will be existing only in museums...
The lovely old trees stand out well in the composition, great light!

Ola Francisco,
I especially like the curving branches of the trees, I tried to find the name but the only tree I can find listed is a Dragon Tree. This doesn't look quite like that. Then I scrolled through the last 150 photos of Cape Verde posted on TE, thinking that you had mentioned the name. It looks like this is the most common tree in Cape Verde with the palm coming in second; although I couldn't find a name.

Olá Francisco. Bem interessante esse edifício. As cores estão bonitas principalmente o azul das janelas que ressalta muito bem à vista. Bonito o enquadramento com o jardim, os banquitos e as bonitas árvores. Belo trabalho.
Se as mentes loucas destroiem praias, florestas e o que mais lhes aparecer pela frente, podes bem crer que se o telégrafo estiver no local 'certo' também irá.
