Photographer's Note

After the boats in my series Cape Verde Fisherman, you see here a fisherman preparing their meal right on the beach, while the last boat is hauled ashore by others.
These fishermen of Baía das Gatas (São Vicente Island, Cape Verde) sell most of their harvest in Mindelo city. A small part is sold on the spot, to the residents of Baía das Gatas. And some fish is eaten by themselves, as fresh as it can be.

Hi Francisco!
What a nice daylife scene from Baja da Gatas.When I`ve been there ,there was not much action at the beach.....
Excellent composition with the man prepearing diner and his still working friends in the distance.

Hi Fracisco,

Again it is the vibrant colors against the poverty and desolate landscape that is striking .. great point of view .... from the foreground .. to the deep backdrop ... very nice.

Pegando nas palavras do John McLaird, a cor neste sítio é dada só e apenas pelas pessoas e isso é um dos factores que faz esta e outras tuas fotos de CV muito atractivas. Tb. gosto do enquadramento, além da situação em si. O peixe deve dar um belíssimo almoço.

Olá Francisco,
Excelente nitidez e cores perfeitamente reproduzidas, é a impressão que me dá esta imagem. E o background característico do lugar - coisa que aprendi aqui, vendo suas apresentações sobre Cabo Verde, que verde não tem muito (vi sua resposta ao José).

I can underestand the smell of the humidity and the fish here !
a " live " photo with a tangible light.I like your POV,too,seems you was kneeling to shoot the scene,you did great for it.

ja estava sentindo falta de imagens de sua terra, um belo trabalho esse do pescador, gosto dos retratos das pessoas em sua labuta. O fundo é muito bonito também.

As the first close-up of this series this is excellent. Handling of fish right at the beach, traditional boat in the background. Pink flip-flop is a funny detail. Very nice.

Olá Francisco, agora que estás mais activo, estou eu a tirar uma pequenas férias...Para já escolho esta porque é uma série que gosto muito. Mais tarde visitarei as outras. Boa sobreposição dos 3 planos, mesmo com um pescador a sair do boné deste excelente 1º plano. Continuo a gostar muito daquele cenário lá atrás.

I really like the simplicity of the WS, but this photo tells your story better with the layers of activity against the harsh BG.

Bonita foto com este pescador a cortar o peixe sem duvida Cabo Verde é um lugar fantástico para comer peixe fresco e marisco, a paisagem de fundo tem um pouco de verde quando tive na Ilha do Sal é um pleno deserto não tem qualquer tipo de vegetação ,parabéns!!!

Hi Francisco,

An interesting photo and note. It fact it looks like two pictures in one - the one preparing the fish and those hauling the boat. They're all so focused on what they're doing that they seem oblivious to each other. Of course in the end, they'll all share in the catch.

i passed by that little village, it is so colourful and charming...and people seem to be constantly busy with the boats and alikes...
after 4 days at home i'm missing cv so much already...

muito boa a cena do cotidiano dos pescadores da ilha, gostei muito dos personagens e da masneira como os elementos estão bem colocados no todo. boa a luz e a naturalidade das pessoas. eu acho que ficaria um pouco melhor com uma abertura maior do foco, alcançando a bela montanha ao fundo, mas assim está bem também e nem sempre a gente consegue arrancar tudo do local, ainda mais quando o foco principal são pessoas e o movimento delas exige rapidez de tiro fotográfico
