Photographer's Note

Fishermen in Cape Verde use these traditional boats to do their job. The work is difficult and requires a lot of djuntá mon (teamwork, in Cape-Verdean Creole). Usually the men go to the sea and the women sell the fish. The net income, for a lot of large families, it's very low.
This is part of my series of Cape Verde Fishermen.
This is a scanning of a photo taken in Baía das Gatas, São Vicente Island.
See also a boat before arrival.
See the same fishing boats in a very nice photo of Sylvie (SylFondacci). And a similar, "new version" in 2006.
