Taken at Baia das Gatas, in Sao Vicente island, a place very well-known for its music festival.

The sky was beautiful and the light was so strong.

Baia das Gatas (Portuguese for the "Bay of the Cats") is the name of a natural bay in the northeast of São Vicente Island. It is the location of an internationally famous music festival. It is located 10 km east of the city of Mindelo, the island's capital. Baia das Gatas is linked with a road that passes through the mountains with Mindelo to the west and no road to Calhau. The Baia das Gatas is one enormous natural pool.

Since 1983, the 'Festival de Musica da Baia das Gatas' happens every year in the first weekend of the month of August. The crowds gather in the beach of Baia das Gatas and features local and international music. It also features music from all over the world for this great music festival and obviously predominates the African rhythmns. The music are sang by national and international artists and bands. The festival also contains horse riding, beach sports and various cultural programs.

That's a really wonderful picture of the fishing boats of Baía das Gatas, with those strong colours.
Let me correct an information of your very good note. Indeed, gata means "cat" in both Portuguese and Cape-Verdean Creole. But it's also a kind of little shark. That's the sharks (and not the cats) that gave the name to Baía das Gatas. Let me add that the gata-sharks are not dangerous and the real dangerous sharks do not cross the rocky reefs that protect the Baía das Gatas.

Salut Sylvie,

Elle est fantastique ! La compo est excellente, avec ces mâts bruts en indiquant ciel bleu et les couleurs bien vives des bateaux et du ciel, qui contraste avec la pâleur relative des photos de xuaxo.

L'horizon est légèrement incliné, mais il n'est pas évident à cause du POV.
