Desert beacon, a photo from Sal, Barlavento

View from my visit to Cape Verde in the beginning of last year. This is ruin of a lighthouse on the wide beach of the southern edge of Sal island. It seems that it hasn't been functional for decades.
Darkish exposure and wide 10 mm angle adds visual impact I think.

Kia ora Kari,
I like the almost minimalist effect in this photo. The bleak, sparsely vegetated beach broken by the white of the old lighthouse. An interesting shot. Cheers, Neil

Hello Kari

i like the composition here with two thirds sand and one third grey clouds. Placed nicely off centre is that point of interest that looks like a tower. Simple but effective.

Hi Kari,

What I like about the image that it show the remoteness of the area. At least it look remote. It could be that the city if right behind you :) Very simple and minimalist composition, but it works well to capture the feeling of solitude and open nature.

It is a long time I think to go in Cap Vert. One day, for sure, I will go.
Nice composition catching the look. You used efficiently the wide angle lens to get a dynamic composition. In a strange way, this empty foreground is making the interest of this view.

Hi Kari,

Plain, simple and effective. I like the horizon placement and minimalist nature of this image, sometimes having so little makes much more of a statement. The dark, looming sky gives that sense of a brewing storm that's about to unleash it's fury...plus, it makes for some strong contrast to the arid and lifeless landscape. The thing I like the most here is the burst of sunlight in the upper left, as if it's trying to push the cloudy sky away. Very nicely accomplished, well done. Have a great week.
