Photographer's Note
Desert at Costa da Fragata on Sal
When you walk from Santa Maria northeast you come to an really empty landscape. Near the beach you could see these dunes on a length of about 4 kilometer. Here is really nothing then sun, salt and sand and yes, sometimes things from human beings they forgot.
Additional information:
I agree with giacomo that the picture is underexposed. I choice this exposure to enhance the textures of the dune. In the workshop another version with more brightness.

ciao Achim
I don't like this photo taken in Santa Maria because:
1 - in Sal island one of the most beautiful thing is the light.
2 - in Sal I found far landscapes, whit end less and solitary horizons.
I think this shot is under exposed and don't show us what you can found in Sal.
ciao, giacomo

Hi Achim,
an impressive photo of this place with dramatic mood, the contrast fantastic between the dark blue sky and the sand. Have a nice week!

Hi Achim,
the dark sky here works pretty well and it contrasts nicely with the sand. Actually the objects work nice althought it's not good to know about that situation. Very good work!

Hello Achim,
The under-exposure helps heighten the mood. A good capture of this not quite desolate landscape One wonders why people feel the need to leave their detritus lying around.

Salut Achim, the deep blue tones of the sky against those golden sands are truly remarkable. I like the underexposure and much prefer this photo to the Workshop. Nice shooting and brave experimentation with the light. TFS, Lisa.

Hi Achim,
very nice shot from a country that i know it only from its singers.Excellent presentation of this dune with the saturated sky to contrast perfect with the colour of the sand.A useful shot in the TE meaning.Well done.
Have a nice afternoon,Danos

Hi Achim,
The view from the bottom to the top of the sand dune is giving depth to the composition. It is also showing the pollution left by the people. The darken sky is giving a good contrast to the colors of the beach scenery. Have a nice day.

Ciao dear Achim,
yes, the photo is a little underexposed, but the effect is very pleasant and interesting, it seems to be on the moon! A beautiful image that emphasizes the contrasts of light and color. Too bad that the man destroys the landscape with his "forgetfulness".
Ciao, have a nice week!

Hello Achim,
The photograph is pleasant, but it is a little dark. It is however an image which shows the details and the texture of the ground. I prefer the ws, which seems truer to me. Good work and good ws, which makes it possible to compare effectively. Cheer.
Have a nice day

Hi Achim,
I am not concerned about the under exposure and I like the mood of it. Great idea to include same garbage in a world that otherwise is sand, sand and sand. It really enjoy to see original pictures like this in TE. TFS and have a fine week!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hi Achim,
The original post is unusual dark, but the WS is a bit over exposed, thought I'm very trouble to say it like this. Very nice smooth sand, but the rubbish spoiled the view, sorry to make you sad with saying the bad, however is interesting composition too to show us partly of the 4 kilometer sand dunes, thanks.

Olá Achim, I'll always prefer the underexposition...I mean, I like textures and contrasts even if it makes the images a bit darker. I like this one and I like the fact that you show the garbagge too. Some would clone them out to make a pretty postcard... Somehow, I find those items a plus.
best wishes,
ric

Hello, Achim!
The dark sky is beautiful contrasting with the dunes, which have a very nice texture in your picture! You chose an excellent time to shoot and the result is just great! Wonderful composition! Good job!

Bonjour Achim.
Des deux photos je ne saurais laquelle choisir. La composition minimaliste va bien avec le sujet. On est un peu surpris par les objets laissés par la civilisation.
Bonne journée !
Amical salut !

Hello Mr President
Ok for your low exposition intention, it's an original idea
But I suggest you another solution in my WS.

Hello Achim
This seems to be underexposed, but when I saw your WS, I feel that a cross between the two would be the most ideal...with the dunes kept as it is, with more brightness in the sky. Pity about the garbage left behind, the fact of life which we unfortunately are responsible for. Interesting shot!
