The volcanic crater of Cova is a crater of an ancient extinct volcano, situated 1585 meters above sea level on the eastern side of the island of Santo Antão in Cape Verde.
Santo Antao island of volcanic origin is the 2nd largest island in the archipelago of Cape Verde, located in the Windward group called, is the most western island of the archipelago and also the northernmost. The island's capital is the town of Ribeira Grande.
The eastern side of the island is green making an eminently agricultural Santo Antao island. Coupled with the hospitality of its people, the island finds its most alluring in the grandeur of its mountains and its cliffs that drop down to the sea. The steep landscape, contrasting with the green areas is a strong attraction for hiking and adventure travel.
