Photographer's Note

The Deserto de Viana is a desert covering most of the northwestern portion of the island and it also covers the central portion, the only parts not affected by the desert is the shoreline, Sal Rei and the mountains to the northwest. The desert is almost entirely uninhabited except for the northern part which is around 100 covers approximately 20% to 35% of the island's area or surface and not a village is in the desert
