Photographer's Note

Was away for New Year 2008/9 on the island of Boa Vista which is one of the Cape Verde island's,this was taken in the capitol of the island Sal Rei.

Its economy was originally based on agriculture, but desertification led to salt collection becoming more important. Its main industries today are date farming and, increasingly, tourism, with already several touristic establishments being built in recent times. A large 750-room RIU Hotels hotel (Riu Karamboa) has recently opened 5 km South of Sal Rei.

In my opinion the island really could not take to much more of the RIU type tourist developments. This is a great island and to much tourism really would spoil it.
