Photographer's Note
A few seconds after the photo the furious winds took this bush away, further into the dunes.
Shot taken in Deserto do Viana on the island of Boa Vista, near the city of Rabil. Deserto do Viana is a small sand desert in the middle of Boa Vista, called the "Sahara of Cabo Verde". The sand indeed comes from the Sahara and is transported mainly in the winter time from Harmattan winds from the african continent onto the island. As Boa Vista is the island nearest to the continent, it is also the sandiest one. Due to the always present, strong winds there (sometimes you can lean against it) there are always nice patterns in the dunes.

Hi Franz
An excellent b&w shot
The bush is well placed in the compo and very dynamic diagonals of the sand riddles
Perfect use of the wide DOF

Hallo nochmal - Franz Xaver,
unglaublich, was für ein tolles Bild du hier einstellst. Sehr niedriger Standpunkt.
Thomas

Hi Franz A note combined with a picture of the low point ! we give a beautiful spot making with effect and perspective! offers little of the charm of detail Good idea!

Hi Franz Xavier
What a soft image you kept with the ripples in the sand converging to the bush, the grainy sand itself and the grey clouds in the sky. Good low POV and adequate settings of the camera to have shapness all over the image.
Cheers

Hi Franz, great minimalist composition, I like the choice of the BW, the prospect of the strips of sand, the details and the choice of POV, perfectly placing the bush in the frame, have fun, Valter

Hello Franz,
nice B/W scenery with the lone bush to dominates in ththis sandy 'carpet'.I like the good placement of the bush in the frame as the abstractive presentation.

Hi Franz,
Simple but graphically interesting. Nicely composed (so many lines (ripples) leading toward the well placed bush!). I like the sand, one can almost feel the texture of it. Maybe I'm wrong, but did you try to lighten the bush (immediate surrounding a bit lighter)? If so, was it necessary since the bush is quite dark anyway?

Hi Franz
its not too often we get to see black and white photos taken in the desert, so this one is a welcome sight.
the lines in the lower fg are great, they themselves could hold their own in a photo.
wonderful contrasts in the lines and softer forms in the clouds.
nice work
cheers

Hi Franz, it looks like a three dimensioned photo thanks to your use of excellent depth of field. The desert bush is well located in the middle of those parallel lines which lead our eyes to the vastness of the desert. B&W is an unusual choice but works very nice for this composition. Congratulations, Tolga

this picture is stunning. the composition is so simple, yet very effective. the lines of the sand are excellent, the positioning of the lone tree is perfect, and the sky is very dramatic.
