Photographer's Note

Ouagadougou, the Burkina-Faso capital.
This sign is on the road of Kaya, in front of the urban park of Bangr-Weogoo (north-east of the city).

This picture to remind that the HIV still contaminate and the AIDS still kills people, especially in Africa. On the 33 millions people who carry the virus in the world, 22,5 live in south-Sahara Africa.

Indeed, in these poor countries, there is no money for the awareness and educations campaigns, prevention actions, Aids tests, condoms distribution, medical treatments, research...

Moreover, the religion's weight on minds and practises is still strong.
2 days ago, Pope Benoit XVI said in his visit in Cameroon the Chruch condamns the use of condom. He said that condom makes the situation worse. He just recommend abstinence and fidelity to fight against the virus.
That reiforces some men who don't want to use the plastic. And no real incentive policy is set to make them change.

Women are more affected (60 % of the population), they can give the virus to their children while pregnant.
In Africa, 10 millions of the 15-24 years old have the HIV and 3 millions of the less-than-15.
In orphanages, a lot of children have lost their both parents by the AIDS.

Some countries like Ouganda or Swaziland, a young adult on 2 is affected, each year their population decrease inexorably. If nothing changes, they can disappear.

Here's the UNAIDS website.

In WS, the back of the sign, other version of the campaign.
