tho overloaded i have observed that the driver is a defensive one- clearly obeying the "kids crssing" sign to the right...LOL
i like the composition, clarity and sharpness, caleb!

Hello, Caleb!
Very interesting image of daily life. In my region the "worst" overload of conventional car I saw, was 20 saks of potatoes (mostly inside a car) with driver and one passenger. But this is something incredible! At the same time I expect that it is usual situation for Africa :)

I can distinguish 9 persons INSIDE and I guess there are at least 15 persons inside. This car is an Peugeot 404 Plateau, about 30 years old, isn't it?

Hi Caleb,
A wonderful travelogue yo got there on Benin!! Years ago, I was writing a proposal to do research on solar panels for nomadic tribes in the North of Benin. So it's not that forgotten ;-). Researching how it could improve their lives, information on rainfall, on market values of goods they were selling and a link to a hospital in case of need for assistance. Unfortunately, the funding was never given and instead I was sent to the Brazilian Amazon to do a research on rural electricity use in the Amazon. In that sense, forgotten by policy makers...
Still, I'm still hoping to end up in Benin one day.
Thank you for sharing your experiences!!
Greetings, Dennis

HI Caleb
Beautiful colors and photo of a, can I say, typical, small african town scene. Good depth and lots of action going on, down the road, the goats, the soccer field to the right.
Well done.

Besides the fact that this is a nice picture, well framed, well done and it gives a pretty good idea of what is going on... That is quite a ride!!!

what about the bonnet?
i reckon at least a couple of people could have sat there.
Great find - fantastic composition..... you obviously always have your camera ready for action!

Hello Caleb,
I like this kind of shots! First, I got my eyes on the stuffed piled on the roof. Then I saw the sand everywhere:street, grass, sidewalk and car. Then I noticed how empty the boulevard/street was...It's only then that I noticed how many people were in the car!! It adds a lot of depth to your picture.
I can feel the sand in my nose and lungs...
Have a nice day!

Olá Caleb,
fantástico esse flagrante, muito comum nas regiões rurais do Brasil também. Gostei da cor da terra na sua foto, belo trabalho.
Parabéns e Abraço!

Hey C: this one popped up today on the TE opening destination page. Great catch here, fully in the classic TE vein. Great stuff - also your color temperature is appealing here. c

20 person, 5 chickens, 1 goat ? ;-)
Amazing POV with the "convoy" entering the route of travelling.
For me loving intensive colours it could have been a little bit more saturated...
Thanks for sharing!
Have a nice weekend

Hello Caleb,
Believe it or not, this is the first time I am seeing a picture from Benin on TE. I like the way you have composed this one with trucklod of people and lot of load. I like the smoke created by the dust giving a misty background. The colors are beautiful. This looks exactly like India.

Hello Caleb
By loading so much they save on fuel, to say the least!
And no wonder why they carry two spare tires, wise precaution!
Stunning exotic scenery indeed.
Cheers.

Hi Caleb
Its an interesting photo with all these load for this poor vehicle. The rear tire is about to be out of air, but no matter i think there are two spares. Nice capture reflecting the people's need for transportation. Nice shot. have a great day,

at first I thought there was people only in the front and the back of the car, after I saw people inside, under the bags and products. we can see how many tires are necessary to cross the bad roads with so heavy charge.
nice details and the dusty mood. a view not so usual of our planet blue. TFS.

Hello Caleb,
This is an oldie but it hasn't lost its charm (or whatever word should be used to describe this strange vehicle). This is really Africa, sadly the level of accidents is pretty high. But it's a great shot, which I would have loved to take.

Gert
