Hi Jorge,
I suppose this is similarly volcanic but since the eruptions happened a long time ago, I guess at least, the vegetation managed to take back the land and it is quite lush. Although people took it over using it for agriculture.

yes, these rocks are very old, they were created when the atlantic ocean was created and when iguassu falls were created too. of course after so many time the rocks became red soil and the ones underground begun the process of become soil too. take care jorge
