Great saxo042 2014-03-29 9:38

Hi Ann,
I would guess that most people would go to this remote part of the world in summer, just to see the midnight sun. But I understand that the Aurora Borealis would be equally interesting. But you have taken a very good picture here of this interesting church, along with the diagonal lines from the tracks in the snow. The inclusion of people also adds interest to the picture. A very well composed picture. Did this trip also include the Geiranger fjord?
Kind regards

Default To saxo042: Geiranger

Hello Gunnar,
Thanks for your kind comments,. The winter landscape is very beautiful and a winter trip around the equinox means that there are plenty of hours of light. We did have a couple of force 12 storms but the ship was amazingly stable. The captian did attempt and then abort two of its night stops beacuse of dangerous harbour entrances in the wind. Of course much of the journey is very well sheltered and open seas are just occasional. We did a half day trip by bus in the Lofoten Islands which were particularly beautiful. I think that the ships only enter Geiranger fjord in the summer months. We have been to this fjord in the summer when we did a land trip several years ago.
Best wishes, Ann
