Beautiful desert scape! Looks more like a painting than a photograph. I suppose dune buggy riders have to have a place to ride but I wish some parts of the desert are off limits. Love the undisturb sand dunes. Good lighting and sharp details with wonderful natural colors. Well done, tfs.

Smile To eldancer1: Conservation

Hi there - Thanks for your comments on this. I am happy to tell you that dune riding is not allowed in this area at all. The set of tracks you see are in an area set aside for 4X4 parking. Most areas in the Namibian desert are off-limits to vehicles of any kind (unless one drives on a designated road or track) and we are fortunate that the wilderness is cared for by strictly enforced conservation rules. Down at the coast there is an area set aside for paragliding, dune-boarding and other leisure activities but this is small. Many areas are roped off as there is a rare species of bird that makes its nest on the ground and there are some equally rare lichen fields which are protected.

Have a good week
