Great holmertz 2013-12-24 5:23

Hello Bülent,
You photographed the statue well and included a fine background. The corresponding statue further back gives the composition good depth. (But you could have waited a second for the man to get out of the way:-) ).
Maybe the dying Achilles could symbolize the dying 2013 and the coming of a newborn 2014,
Kind regards,

PS I agree that the situation in Turkey now is stunning and outrageous. :-(

Default To holmertz: Season's Greetings

Hello Gert,

The photo belies the density of tourists milling about. This is by far the best of at least a dozen photos.

You found appropriate symbolism in the "Dying Achilles" with 2013 checking out and 2014 checking in. How nice it would be if, politically speaking, 2014 would be much better than 2013. Unhappily, national leaders are not the best they can be, and widespread insanity is sweeping the world. Without being very political, I wrote a blog for the National Geographic, http://newswatch.nationalgeographic....ue-of-ataturk/

Warm regards,
