Hi Lisa

Is that New Castle (Castlo Novella) on the Naples waterfront? I saw it from San Martino lookout and later went up to it because it was a short walk from my hotel. Vesuvius looms ominously over the town. A nice tribute to your much beloved grandmother. Good sharpness and starbursts from the long exposure. Tfs!

Smile To ChrisJ: Hi Chris

Hi Chris

Thanks for your nice comments on this one.

No, this is Castel dell'Ovo, which is around the corner from New Castle/Castel Nuovo (also known as Maschio Angioino). The Egg castle is older, built by the Normans in the 12th Century, although there was a fortress there since Greek times.

The New Castle is also situated on the water and building was started in the 13th century, making it slightly younger than the Egg Castle

Thanks again
