Great SnapRJW 2013-08-02 10:56

Hello Russ - Do you know, I had forgotten about these fantastic ice patterns that can form on the inside of windows. Seeing this took me back to my childhood and I remember how fascinated I was by them. This is a great shot, I like the graininess and the way the colours shift from warm to cold from the top to the bottom of the frame. Magical memories.... thanks for that. Warm regards Rosemary

Smile To SnapRJW: That makes me smile!

Oh, Rosemary, that's a great thought to share! Thank you so much! To me, the sense of wonder remains -- photoray pointed out that this is the form of feathers, too (I was seeing ferns), so we can see Mother Nature using this pattern in animal, vegetable, and mineral. FASCINATING! But the idea of temperatures on the INSIDE of a window being sufficiently chilly to allow large crystals like this to form also represents, to me, the "bad old days" -- I had a happy childhood, but I did not like the climate and moved south as soon as practicable!

Have a GREAT weekend!
