Great marabu61 2013-08-01 7:07

Hello Russ
The black and white conversion and the slight unsharpness ( I suppose comes from the scan?) makes this photo quite timeless. The lonely trailer on that deserted landscape does remind me somehow of Area 51.
A nicely moody atmosphere of abandon and loneliness prevail in this composition.
I always wonder how you guys get your old slides scanned in such a good quality , my attempts never seems to satisfy myself. Oh how I remember these days of the good old Ectachrome films.
have a great day
Daniel

Smile To marabu61: Scanning Conundrum

Hello Daniel!

Thanks for the comments -- yes, this could be any remote and forsaken place, including Area 51! And I have to ponder the life of the resident -- not without some joy, as there is a basketball goal! -- but without anything more than the most basic creature comforts.

My slide scanning experience is pretty limited. I used a vendor called ScanCafe (you can find them online easily) and, frankly, has mixed results. Some things scanned great, others not so much. Still, it was easy, cheaper than buying a quality scanner, and a real joy to have some of those old images at my digital disposal.

Best regards,

Russ
