Great maloutim 2013-01-07 19:44

Having a quick look through your gallery, I came upon this first upload of yours on TE, and at the same time learnt about this incredible site in Yungang, which I have added to my group personal theme Unesco World Heritage in Asia . I hope you don't mind.
Very impressive Buddha indeed, with the little man under his hand as an eye-catcher. What is the actual size of the Buddha by the way ?
Great capture with the neat wall paintings on the left.
Thanks for sharing and best regards.
Marie-Louise.

Post To maloutim: size

Hello Marie-Louise

Thanks for your interest and kind comments.

For an idea of the size of the statue, you can have a look at this picture:

This is another buddha at the site, similar in size (but a standing one, not a sitting one). The little statue underneath the arm functions as an extra support. Quite original, but this was probably not intended to be there when the sculptors set out to work.
