Thank you for your critique. I agree with you that this image lacks depth or space from foreground to background. It does look two-dimentional. Perhaps more foreground would have given it more context.
One tiny note FYI: "Depth of field" (DOF) is a photographic term meaning sharpness from front to back. A deep DOF is achieved by using a small Fstop such as F16 or F22. A shallow DOF means the image has selective sharpness, which is achieved by using a large Fstop such as F2. A shallow DOF can be desirable if you want to isolate a subject from the background, or isolate part of the picture from the rest. Then you would make the subject sharp and the rest blurry.

In the case of my image, I think you mean the picture looks two-dimentional, not has shallow depth of field. When I say a picture is flat, I mean it has little contrast, or no shadows. Increasing the contrast can make the details stand out more.

Maybe these terminologies are just a difference in our language usage. I'm just referring to some common photographic terms used in English.

It's me again, Greg. You're right that the image is flat, i.e. no depth. Using the long focal point on the zoom does that. It brings foreground and background closer together. That was not my intention, but it worked out that way. Maybe I shouldn't have posted this image, but at least it's generating some discussion.
