Great akm 2009-05-31 13:28

Hello Daniel,
I toured the lagoon in 1998 and recognized it immediately in the thumbnail. Given that this is a picture of fairly ubiquitous red mangroves, that is a pretty big compliment! I think it's the particular quality of the light that you captured so well. I hope the local people are continuing to manage and benefit from this wonderful sanctuary.
Thank you,

Default To akm: I am impressed, Mary.

I am sure impressed, Mary, that you recognized the lagoon where I took this photo. Thank you for your comment. You will be pleased to know that the locals are continuing to manage the area. I took a boat trip with one of them, who was very knowledgeable, helpful, friendly and most patient. If you ever decide to go back to Manialtepec, let me know and I will give you his name and phone number.

That's great news, Daniel! I'd love to go back and will certainly want your contact if I do. Cheers,
