Dear Akihisa,
so, this is the same Lake Shikotsu which was shown in one of your photos posted earlier!
Very beautiful. And again, this view reminds me of a strange, almost fantastic landscape... which looks more like a painting - maybe with special water colours. I heard that mountains have a special soul od their own, and they can "think", "Like" or "dislike" something. When I read Japanese fairy-tales in my childhood, there was a fairy-tale in which a special "spirit of mountains" appeard before the humans :)
But he looked like an old man with a long beard :)
Kind regards,
Elena

dear Elena,
thank you for your wonderful comment. people living by this lake have been thinking that this mountain is like a woman's side face, your imagination of "an old man with a long beard" may be caused by the snow on it. native people or aborigines in Hokkaido surely think that the spirit lives in every natural object, mountaun, valley, river, fountaun, tree, forest, sea...their feeling of awe to the nature is precious for us. best regards, Akihisa |
