Great batalay 2008-06-25 5:29

Hello Romain,

This is one of my favorite scenes in Pisa. In using a very wide angle lens, however, there has been a little too much convergence of vertical lines. The "Leaning Tower" has become plumb, and the plumb Baptistery has become leaning. Using the transform perspective function, I rectified the image. I hope you don't regard it as meddling. I increased the size of the canvas, then copied and pasted the image on itself. Calling up the transform perspective function, I stretched out the top only, until the Baptistery became vertical, and the tower leaning. Then I stretched the entire image vertically in order to avoid the "squat" look. Please, see the ws.

It's a very good image, but it can be made a little better.

Warm regards,

Default To batalay: I see your point but...

Hello,

I see your point and understand you WS but this is not the vision I had in the first place. In this picture I used a 28 mm wide angle and expected the distortion to straight up the tower and bent the rest of buildings (hence the title and subtitle "The tower isn't bent, the rest of the world is"). I wasn't looking for a perfect postcard picture that would reflect the reality but for something a bit different.

So again it might not be a perfect picture (far from that) but according to my initial (discutable or not) vision, I don't think correcting the perspective will make it better.
But I really appreciate the effort you did put into your comment and more specifically the WS and wish there was more people like you in this site.

Warm regards,

Romain.
