Great michiels 2008-01-13 6:16

hello Hugh,

I like the idea very much, it is a very beautiful image, but for me it's more bunting (is this a correct translation?= kind of graphic art)
the graphic is very good and the colours very nice. Happily the plane is going the other direction !
greetings, inn

Default To michiels: Bunting?

Hi, Inn. I don't know that word "bunting," but I think you are right. It works more like graphic art than pure photography. I have seen this kind of work before and I guess I was trying to imitate it. Anyway, an experiment that some liked and others didn't. Like all experiments, I guess. Thanks! Best regards, -Hugh

Yes, that's exactly it. I think I had in mind those posters from the 70s. Posters and t-shirts. And those were based on the silkscreening techniques of Pop artists. Something about this image seemed to move me to treat it like that. For me, the idea of the plane, the building, the blue sky -- they are all charged with meaning now. I thought the high-constrast and the halo of light around the elements transmitted that charge. Well, as I said, an experiment. Anyway, thanks for the link. Best, -Hugh
