Great gunbud 2007-03-18 21:51

Hi John,
Lovely little fishing village with good size trawlers in fact bigger than you will see in many ocean fishing village on the east coast but I've heard Lake Erie is known for her terrible storms. Love the many colorful roofs.
Regards, Tom

Default To gunbud: Monument

Hi Tom, there's a monument built in Port Dover, for all of the boats and fishermen lost to Erie. I should have taken a picture of it. I'll be back someday and will get it the next time. Erie is especially treacherous because it is shallow, so you get a very quick slopping of water as you would sloshing around in a bathtub. To complicate matters there are some very dangerous shoals just off shore from this area, they're difficult to see and they do move around a bit. But if you ever want a great feed of perch there is no better place to go than Port Dover.
