Is There a Limit on Number of Cameras in Profile??

• Hi Adam,
I've just tried to add a new camera, and don't seem to be able to. Having added it to my Equipment Profile I'm told the profile has been updated, but the new camera doesn't appear in the list. It's the fifth camera, so I'm wondering if there is a limit of four cameras.

If this is the case, can the system be altered to allow adding a fifth camera?

I could delete one old camera, but I'd like to keep it for the record if possible.

Thanks,
Martin.

No, there is no limit to the number of cameras in one's profile.

A couple of questions so I can figure out the problem:

1. When you add the fifth camera, do you choose from the dropdown list, or do you type in a new camera?

2. What is the exact name of the camera you type in or choose?

Thanks,
Adam

Hi Adam,
I was typing it, as the entry in the dropdown list is slightly different to the actual name of the camera, but in character case only. The camera is a Canon PowerShot G3. The dropdown has Canon Powershot G3, with a lower case "s" in Powershot. Canon use an upper case "S", so that is what I was trying to add.

Your questions led me to try the entry from the pulldown which was successfully added to my Equipment Profile.

I'd like to be able to use the correct case for the "S", but if this is at all problematic I'll continue to use the current entry.

Thanks very much,
Martin.

Ah, this is a bug, and I have fixed it. Thanks for pointing that out. It now displays a warning message when attempting to add a camera which already exists and has different cases.

I have also changed all Powershots to 'PowerShot' and changed the Canon G3 listing to Canon PowerShot G3.

So are you enjoying the G3?

Thanks for fixing this Adam. Very much appreciated as usual.

> So are you enjoying the G3?

I bought it at the weekend as a lighter "travel friendly" alternative to my D30. I spent a few hours going through the manual etc. and took it into the local park yesterday to try it out. I've got to say, it's an unbelievably intelligent camera.
I'm going to answer your question about metering from my Japanese Apricot Blossom photo taken during this trip to the park, so I'll expand on this there.
You know, maybe we can add a "Camera Review" section to TrekEarth too...
Just a thought.

For the time being, I think the best thing to do would be to add the article/story as a 'Travelogue'. For example, make the travelogue on the day you took the Apricot Blossom shot and call it 'Canon PowerShot G3 Review' or something. If others do so as well, I could transfer it to an 'article' section quite easily.

Good idea. I'll put something together later.
Thanks,
Martin.
