Great holmertz 2020-10-16 3:53

Hello Bev,
Today I have learned something about the world through photography! Both photos are interesting, but those who don't read the note will miss the whole point. I admit I had never heard of lychgates, so I had to do some research to find out they were also common in Sweden in medieval times. However, here they seem mainly to have marked the boundary of the sacred area of the church. Placing the deceased here may have been a special British habit. As for the photos the filter seems to have done a good job. The colours and contrasts are quite nice. I think the WS could also have done well as a main photo. It is nicely framed, gives us an equally good view of the lychgate and also shows us some picturesque gravestones.
Kind regards,
Gert

Default To holmertz: The Lychgate

Thank you for your thoughtful words, Gert.

Yes, I hovered about using the w/s as the main post but then, it seemed more logical to see the lychgate from the front before showing the back! Have I been too rigidly trained!!!!

Kind regards,
Bev
