Exclamation Rule change on uploading pictures

Hi everyone,

As you know this site is all about great photography but it is also about learning from each other through critiques, workshops and commenting. Adding a note to your picture is essential for our moderators to understand the purpose of your picture. Sometimes, it can get hard for our mods when there is no note attached and the photograph is not very clear in its intentions or what it depicts. We have therefore changed the rules. In order to be able to upload a picture your photograph must have always have a note attached to it ( with a minimum of 40 characters) .Only meaningful notes will be considered, so please do not try to get around the issue by posting " fhgdfhd rthdfjgbnd fgjkfk". A note as such may be subject to deletion.

We hope that this will make for a better TrekEarth experience for all of you!
Thanks,
Steph

To avoid problems, or at least to get only a few ones, this new rule should be implemented in the TOS.

Exclamation rules

As you are with hands on rules, make the frames rule more clear, perhaps with examples (images of allowed and not allowed frames).

I'm not sure we can make the frames rules any clearer than they already are:-

"Frames must be plain and straight edged (simple drop shadow is allowed) - Cannot contain gradients, textures, blurring or beveling."

There is nothing ambiguous in them.

Default Notes.

A further thought on notes, I agree notes are important as an educational arm of the web site.
But where people make an effort to write interesting and well researched notes can those looking at the pictures mark the note as useful if they think that they are.
Many people do make an effort to explain the photograph, may be something about the technical side of it and why it was taken. Please give them credit for making the effort.
Sometimes the note might be better than the photograph.

Default uploaded pictures and notes

Thanks, Yes I know there is a button to mark a note as useful, my point is that many people do not check it to show their appreciation of the quality and sometimes the effort taken to write the note.
Vote for notes!
