Default Jeff Hutchens

I just came across a young photojournalist who's photos have just been shown regarding the pollution crisis in China. He has done assignments for Time, Stern, Lonely Planet, and is represented by Getty Images.
Although he is a PJ, some of his work takes on an artistic approach using shift-tilt lenses, and perhaps a Lomo. He even has a a little portfolio on his page dedicated to travel. Check it out if you haven't already. I find his work very interesting.

some really good photography, he's not unknown quantity though. I think the Uganda portfolio is the strongest, IMO. And totally put off (my eyes too) by the artificial blurring in "China threat", glad that's the only gallery where he went artsy fartsy!

That's not artificial blurring. That's a tilt-shift lens, similar to shooting a camera with bellows. I really like what he did with that gallery--- captures the surrealism of China-- much more interesting than standard fare shooting if you ask me. Uganda stuff is great as well and also love the "Fragments" section of the site!

In addition to being a great photographer, Jeff is also a very decent person. He's actually located here in DC and I've met him a few time through another PJ. You're right in that Jeff takes a great artistic approach to his photography. A number of his photos were shot on a Holga, something that a traditional PJ would not.
