I never photograph people without first asking and getting a nod of approval. There are people in Asia and elsewhere who still believe that if their picture is taken they will lose their soul.

Default To Opus: Thank you Opus !

I do not come to a conclusion about this photograph in particular. I only think it's VERY important to say this in TE. Important to say that to turist wich are wich local people as with animal. Try to photograph people in Paris, and you will see the reaction : juridic arguments etc. One word : respect.

OK, I do understand you're not talking about my(this) photo in particular. but since it was thread of my photo I want to say the following to clear up my position:

* I already said in separate thread that I agree with Opus that we shouldn't violate people fundamental believe just to get photo.

* Regarding this particular photo. Everyone in the village is more than happy to get their picture taken. Some of the kids even shoving each other to make sure they're in the frame! I saw this kid on the other corner just leaning against the wall. It look interesting to me because of the surrounding and his "I don't care" look. I point my lens to him, take some photo and realized he was uncomfortable and I stop.
Yes I'm guilty not explicitly asking this boy permission. But when literally everyone else in the village more than happy to have their picture taken(some even invite us to their home ) I think I have solid argument why I did what I did.

Default I understand....

He was truly just shy. I just thought that he looked a little perturbed also.
My mistake.
