And I thought the fire we had here a few months ago was a massive cloud of smoke but that was tiny next to the results from this gas fire and explosion. This image is really beautiful, though, despite the terrible accident it is depicting. The smoke is billowing up, like a volcanic eruption, in such powerful upward motion. And as it meets the clouds that ripple out it creates an interesting and leveling effect. The sunlight peeking through also helps add to the ambiance of something mysterious and both dangerous but that causes you to want to find out what it is. It's that mix of night time feel and day time feel that does it I think. Up at the top it looks like night and moonlight slipping through clouds. And overall it has a frosty feel. Nicely captured Andy.
