Great Royaldevon 2021-02-25 9:47

Hello Gert,

I would imagine that the babies are very much in the care of their mothers so if it's market day, the babies have to go too.

It looks like a very busy market, with lots of people and lots of buses, and, maybe, was taken shortly after the monsoon rains that you have described, since the floor looks quite wet.
I'm surprised by how many of the commodities are ranged on the floor.

Your photograph captures the atmosphere of the market very well, with a vast sense of depth to the towers beyond.

I am curious about the sign showing someone running. I wonder if you can remember its purpose.

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Default To Royaldevon: sign

Thank you Bev,
Loong suggested that the sign means "Beware of running pickpocket". That's the funniest alternative, but more likely it just means a pedestrian crossing. But since Indian drivers of any kind of vehicles show little consideration for pedestrians, you would have to hurry up to cross the street alive, even with the law on your side.
The monsoon was still going on, and I had several showers also while in Chennai, but between them it was very hot, and these streets were paved, so they dried up quickly,
Kind regards,
