Problems with editing a discussion

For some time now, I have noticed that if I edit a discussion that I have posted, I end up with this kind of bumf "&lt;br/&gt;<br/>" at the end of each sentence.
The more I try to edit because of this problem, the longer the bumf gets.
Can anyone help about this please ? I think we should be able to edit as we did before, when we realize we have made a mistake or missed something.

I see that in 3 weeks, I have had no answer to this problem.
Actually, I have found a way : Rather than try and correct the text, it's possible to delete it and replace it by the corrected text;
That way, it works without all the bumf mentioned above.
