Great holmertz 2018-10-23 2:19

Hello Bev,
This photo strikes me as a case where inclusion of people really tells us of the impressive dimensions of what we are seeing. The persons don't mean so much for vividness or colours, but they tell us of the enormous size of the Colosseum. It seems to be one of those buildings that are larger inside than outside. ;-) Both photos have excellent clarity and colours, and although I like the WS too, this is the most informative. Are you obliged to use a guide, or do most people do that anyway, just to get better information? I am quite sure I walked on my own here in 1969.
Kind regards,

Default To holmertz: Tours of the Colosseum

Thank you for your warm critique, Gert.

There is no obligation to have a guide but they can be very useful in more ways than just having a tremendous amount of knowledge and bringing the experience to life; the guide that we had managed to get us in at a cheaper rate, (including a guided tour of the Palatine Hill) and by-passed the crowds. He supplied us with lots of useful information about the city, too, like getting water (still or sparkling) free from the metro stations. It was very hot and we drank lots of water!
