The first thing the photo prompted in my mind, were the paintings of Brueghel. Is it an old gallows pole (you could have referenced Led Zeppelin!) or a 'reconstruction'?

Thanks for your comments, James. The torture wheels are recent installations that were part of an open air exhibition in honour of Pieter Brueghel the Elder, a walk through the countryside with various artworks to be discovered "en route".
