Great holmertz 2019-10-07 11:54

Hello Benny,
Bright and cute, and maybe it means something that her skirt may have been mass produced in China. Most clothes we buy in Europe are also mass produced in China, Cambodia or Bangladesh. I do object to the expression "hill tribes". It's not your fault, but tribe is a derogatory colonial description of ethnic groups, or sometimes clans, they couldn't subjugate or regarded as too unimportant to bother with.
Regards,
Gert
PS May Ginger Baker rest in peace. :-(

Post To holmertz: hill tribe

Hej Gert

I know what you mean with your comment regarding the word "tribe". Of course, I do not mean as derogatory in any way. In fact I chose it over the word "minorities", which also sounds rather negative. At least in "hill tribe" there is a certain connotation of pride, at least in my ears. I could have gone, maybe should have gone for the more neutral "ethnic group", but even that doesn't sound complety right to me either.

Language is difficult.

Benny
