No clue.

There's a lot of numbered or marked somehow trees in Germany. Some marked to be cutted: a forest warden comes through a forest and marks a trees that had to be sawed off and then other guys (less educated in forestry)come and saw it down. Others just numbered.

If anyone can explain, why, I'll be obliged.

I have heard of marking trees with paint before for the purpose of marking which are to be cut down. Never saw any numbered before, at least not in this part of the world.I'd be interested to know about the numbering as well.

Also, had a look at the photos on your website journal, those are very nicely done as well. You are very talented! :-)
