Hi Gert
first of all, its great that you wrote a journal, i can almost assure you 99.99% of people no longer do that. Today's version of a journal is Facebook or Instagram I guess. this is an awesome view of the city, its almost as if it isn't real. Like its something out of a movie. It would be great to visit this exact same street view today for comparison sake. love it!

Nothing remains the same after 33 years and a dramatic expansion of mass tourism. I haven't found any recent photos from the same spot, but those I have seen on Google and elsewhere on the net indicate that at least the central areas look very different. Well paved pedestrian streets with LOTS of touristy shops and cafés etc. Surprised?
